When Care Comes Full Circle – Medical Camp

This past December, we celebrated 10 years of ministry in Uganda—10 years of walking alongside children and families, building relationships, and faithfully showing up day after day. To mark this milestone, our CareCenter hosted a community medical camp, creating space for both celebration and care.

From the start, it was clear this would be a special day. The children from the CareCenter, along with our staff and their families, walked through the surrounding neighborhood in a parade, carrying banners and singing songs as they invited the community to join the medical camp. It was a joyful way to share the news and welcome neighbors into a day centered on care, dignity, and hope.

The medical camp was initiated by our staff, who wanted to give back to the community as we celebrated 10 years of God’s goodness. During the camp, five of the six children currently studying medicine from our program were actively serving the community. One child pursuing a Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology handled the lab work, while four nursing students supported in triage—demonstrating the growing impact of Christ-centered investment in their education and training.

Inside the CarePoint, different spaces were set aside for care throughout the day. Eye exams took place alongside dental care and cleanings. Basic medical exams and blood tests helped identify health concerns and guide treatment. Medications were accessible to those who needed them, as prescribed by local medical professionals, and a quiet room was available for anyone who wanted prayer, encouragement, or simply someone to listen.

Throughout the day, people came with different needs, and each one was met with care. Some received glasses, others relief from tooth pain, some were guided through medical care, and many left carrying prayer and hope. What made the day especially meaningful wasn’t just the care provided—it was seeing the students and staff serving together to bless their community, showing how long-term investment in people grows into a ripple of care for others.

We were also grateful to have a church from Chicago with us during this time, serving alongside our team and witnessing firsthand the fruit of long-term ministry.

As we reflected on 10 years of ministry in Uganda, this day felt like a clear picture of why faithful, long-term investment matters. Seeds planted in love, prayer, and discipleship grow in ways we may not always see immediately—but over time, they bear fruit in transformed lives, families, and communities.

We are deeply grateful—for everyone who supports this ministry, for those who serve faithfully on the ground, and for stories like Grace’s that remind us God is always at work, bringing hope, healing, and lasting change.
