When you think of orphan care, you might picture an orphanage or a child separated from their home to receive care elsewhere. At Christ’s Hope, our approach is different—intentionally so.
We believe that children thrive best not in institutions, but in families and communities. That’s why our Ministry CarePoints were created—to bring care to children without removing them from the people and places they call home.
From Orphanages to CarePoints: A Better Way to Care
Years ago, Christ’s Hope made a significant shift in how we support orphaned and vulnerable children. Recognizing the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual drawbacks of institutional care, we transitioned from an orphanage model to one centered on family and community.

Now, instead of placing children in residential care facilities, we established Ministry CarePoints—safe, supportive spaces where children come during the day to receive:
- Nutritious meals
- Tutoring and mentoring
- Life skills training
- Biblical discipleship
- Physical, emotional, and spiritual support
At the end of the day, children return home to their families or extended relatives, staying rooted in their culture and community. This model not only keeps families together, but it also helps transform entire communities.

Child Sponsorship That Builds Up, Not Pulls Away
When you sponsor a child through Christ’s Hope, you’re doing more than providing school supplies or a meal. You’re investing in a model that:
- Preserves the child’s family connection
- Supports guardians and empowers them
- Equips children with the tools and truth they can share with others
- Enables long-term transformation for entire communities
Because our local staff also visit the children’s homes regularly, they can assess the family’s needs, offer encouragement, and ensure the care we provide at the CarePoint extends to the home.

This has led to practical and life-giving impact: families receive food packs during times of crisis (like COVID lockdowns or flooding), mattresses to sleep on, and emergency care when it’s most needed. We’ve helped start savings groups to empower the children’s parents and guardians financially and provided life skills training to equip them for more stable livelihoods. Beyond the physical care, this connection to the home opens powerful doors for the Gospel to be shared, not just with the children, but with their entire families.
We’ve seen children become messengers of hope. Our children are teaching their parents and guardians how to read English so they can read the Bible they have at home. When a child is discipled and given the tools they need to thrive, they don’t just grow, they help others grow too.
This model doesn’t just change the course of one child’s life, it ripples outward, strengthening families, inspiring neighbors, and bringing light into entire communities.
