When Roy was only a year old, his father passed away from a longtime illness. Sadly, their family couldn’t afford the treatment he needed. For Roy and his mother, brother, and sister, it felt like all hope was lost. Roy’s mother struggled to provide for her family. There were days when just one serving of porridge was all she could manage to feed her children. Malnutrition and unsanitary living conditions made them vulnerable to illness.
At 7, Roy became physically weak and mentally sluggish. It was discovered that he was suffering from a serious case of tuberculosis of the stomach which caused him a lot of pain. In the midst of all of this, he was recruited into a Christ’s Hope Ministry CarePoint and sponsored by a faithful individual. God worked through Christ’s Hope, his sponsor, and other donors to get Roy the care he needed during a month long stay at the hospital. When he returned home, Christ’s Hope was able to provide him with a special diet to soothe his stomach and boost his immune system. Because of this, Roy’s mind and body started growing stronger, and his faith grew deeper!
The impact on Roy (now 14 years old) and his family amplifies our desire to grow and impact more children in the communities we are currently serving in. Together with you, we desire to live out our mission of ‘Empowering orphaned and vulnerable children to break the cycles of extreme poverty, AIDS, and spiritual brokenness through family-based care and discipleship in Jesus Christ.’ Your generosity makes this possible. As the end of the year approaches, we realize that what we do now, will directly impact how much we can do next year. That is why our goal is to raise $250,000 by December 31st, to serve more children and families – just like Roy’s.
