Behind the Picture – David 405128

Meet David!

David is a sweet 7-year-old boy from Namibia with big dreams and even bigger potential—but he needs help to reach it.

He lives in a small shack with his mother, brothers, sisters, and cousins. Their home has no electricity or running water. Each day, the family walks about half a mile to the public tap for water, and they often struggle to stay warm. David’s mother is the sole provider, working part-time in domestic jobs, but her income is not steady. Despite her efforts, meeting the family’s most basic needs is a daily challenge.

Even in the face of these difficulties, David does his part to help. He cleans the yard and takes on other chores. He loves learning, playing soccer, spending time with friends, and listening to Bible stories—especially the story of Jonah and the big fish!

David dreams of becoming a policeman one day. But without consistent support, access to education, and the resources he needs, his future is uncertain.

By sponsoring David, you can help provide the stability, encouragement, and opportunity he needs to pursue his dreams and thrive.

Let’s make sure this bright future isn’t out of reach.

How to Pray for David!

  1. Please pray for the safety of David and his family. Pray that they would all know and love God.
  2. Please pray that God will provide the basic needs that David and his family need daily.
  3. Pray that David will do well in school so he can have a bright future as a lawyer.
  4. Lastly, please pray that David will be sponsored and that he will be given hope through sponsorship. Pray that God would bring the right sponsor for him and that they would have a strong and lasting relationship.

A Bit About Namibia!

David lives in Namibia, a strikingly beautiful country in Southern Africa known for its vast deserts, dramatic coastlines, and wide-open savannas. Though it’s one of the least densely populated countries in the world, Namibia is home to over 2.5 million people from many different cultural backgrounds and languages.

Windhoek, the capital city, serves as the country’s hub for government and commerce, but many Namibians live in rural villages or growing townships where steady work can be scarce. Unemployment remains high, and families often struggle to provide for their children’s education, health, and daily needs.

Namibia’s climate is mostly dry and sunny, shaped by the Namib Desert—the oldest desert on earth—and the cool Atlantic Ocean along the Skeleton Coast. Rainfall is limited and unpredictable, which makes farming and food security an ongoing challenge for many communities.

Despite these difficulties, Namibians are known for their resilience, warmth, and resourcefulness. Sponsoring a child like David helps provide the stability, care, and opportunities he needs to thrive in a place where many children remain vulnerable. Together, we can make a lasting difference in his life and in the future of his community.
