Stories of Hope

Uganda Declared Ebola-Free: An Update from Christ’s Hope

There is encouraging news from East Africa.

As of July 28, 2026, Uganda has officially been declared Ebola-free, marking an important milestone after months of careful monitoring, treatment, and public health response. We are thankful for the healthcare workers, government leaders, and communities whose tireless efforts helped bring the outbreak under control, and we praise God for this answer to prayer.

Many members of the Christ’s Hope family have been praying for our ministry partners and the communities we serve since the outbreak began. We are deeply grateful for your prayers, encouragement, and faithful generosity. During times like these, your partnership helps ensure children and families continue receiving the care, support, and hope they need.

What This Means for Christ’s Hope

With Uganda officially declared Ebola-free, Christ’s Hope is preparing to resume ministry travel to Uganda after the World Health Organization’s recommended monitoring period concludes. This will allow ministry teams to once again serve alongside our local ministry leaders while continuing to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved.

Throughout this season, our ministry has continued because it is built on the faithfulness of local believers serving in their own communities and sustained through the prayers and generosity of faithful partners like you.

Because of this partnership, Ministry CarePoints have remained places of hope where children continue receiving the consistent, Christ-centered care they depend on every day, including:

  • Nutritious meals
  • Educational support
  • Biblical discipleship
  • Mentoring and encouragement
  • Family support through trusted local relationships

Your partnership means children don’t have to wonder whether the meals, discipleship, education, and care they rely on will continue, even during times of uncertainty.

While circumstances around us have changed, our commitment to children and families has remained constant.

Help Children Continue Receiving the Care They Need

Your generosity allows Christ’s Hope to continue providing life-saving care and Christ-centered discipleship while remaining prepared to respond to emerging needs as situations like this unfold.

The Situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

While we celebrate this encouraging milestone in Uganda, the Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remains ongoing.

Christ’s Hope serves in Kinshasa, located in the western part of the country, far from the areas where the outbreak has been concentrated. Even so, our leadership team continues to monitor the situation closely, maintain regular communication with our local staff, and follow guidance from international health authorities.

Out of an abundance of caution, Christ’s Hope has suspended travel into the affected areas of the DRC while our locally led ministry continues serving children and families every day. Importantly, we have not received any reports of Ebola directly affecting Christ’s Hope children, CareGivers, staff, Ministry CarePoints, or ministry leaders.

We remain committed to making thoughtful decisions that protect our teams while ensuring children and families continue receiving the care they need through our trusted local ministry leaders.

Hope Continues

One of the greatest strengths of Christ’s Hope is that our ministry is deeply rooted in local communities.

Even when international travel changes, children continue to be known, loved, discipled, and cared for by local believers who faithfully serve every day. Families continue receiving encouragement and support. Ministry CarePoints remain places where children experience the love of Christ through consistent relationships and holistic care.

This ministry is a partnership. Faithful local believers serve children and families every day, and faithful partners like you make that ministry possible through your prayers and generosity. Together, God is using this partnership to bring lasting hope to children, strengthen families, and share the love of Christ across Africa.

This is why long-term, locally led ministry matters. Together, we can continue strengthening children and families, even during seasons of uncertainty.

  • Pray for protection over Christ’s Hope children, families, CareGivers, staff, and ministry leaders.
  • Pray that the outbreak will be brought under control quickly and that communities will experience both physical healing and the lasting hope found in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for faithfully lifting these requests before the Lord. Your prayers are a vital part of this ministry and an encouragement to our teams serving across Africa.
